Crawfordsville First United Methodist Preschool is designed to provide top quality, age-appropriate programming which nurtures and challenges every student cognitively, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our curriculum, called HighScope, compliments our classrooms by providing hands-on experiences, consistent daily routines and planned lessons in the basic subjects of math, reading, and science. For example:
Cognitively-Our themed based lessons provide fun and creative opportunities to introduce and practice essential skills needed for school. Children learn through various interactive stations which are intentionally set up to build on prior understanding and provide hands-on exploration. We work hand in hand with the local kindergarten teachers to ensure student readiness.
Physical- Children will enjoy our new playground (Safety approved) as they exercise and use their large motor skills, as well as our newly renovated music and movement room. They will also “Eat Like a Super Hero” when they sit down for healthy, nutritious snacks.
Social-Emotional development is crucial when provided new environments and dealing with other children and adults. Emotional coaching is provided every day for every child. Emotional coaching teaches children how to appropriately express and channel their emotions. Social-emotional development is also developed as children play and interact with others. We are a play-based facility that provides students with plenty of opportunities to explore, make friends and build self-confidence.
Spiritually- Our preschool is grounded in a Christian environment using faith-based curriculum, strong character building exercises, and opportunities for prayer and Bible stories.
Parents and guardians are always valued and welcome to be actively involved in their child’s education.
